Hi, I’m Darrien. I’m a Lake Tahoe local who has been carrying a camera around for most of my life. I grew up taking pictures on a little Sanyo and Kodak film, and by the time I picked up my first Canon in 2016, I knew I had found something I wanted to hold onto. Photography slowly shifted from a hobby into a passion, and now into the work that feels the most like home for me.
A few things I love outside of photos include tending to my plants, baking sourdough, paddle boarding on calm days, skiing in the winter, and camping whenever I can. I enjoy both chai tea and caramel lattes, depending on the day. And my dog is my constant companion. He is my shadow and my heart, and I’m grateful for every adventure we get to share
My style is simple and natural. I love candid moments and the honest, in-between things that happen when people are just being themselves. My approach is calm and steady with gentle direction when needed, letting your story unfold naturally. I photograph in natural light and focus on creating images that feel genuine and quietly meaningful.
Photography has become less about taking pictures and more about telling stories. Yours will never look like anyone else’s, and that’s what I love most about this work.
